How to Clean, Disinfect & Sanitize Your Brookline, MA Home Using Vinegar, Tea Tree Oil, Hydrogen Peroxide & the Sun!

Most people enjoy varying levels of clean in their home. Having a disinfected and sanitized home to boot can make the clean enthusiast ecstatic, especially when wanting to remove the lingering germs after someone has been sick. No one enjoys the seemingly endless circle of getting sick over and over again.

Nadia’s House Cleaning share some tips to better sanitize your house after you or a loved one has conquered a summer flu bug or sickness.

Sanitize Surfaces Using Vinegar: Vinegar is natural and inexpensive that is very successful in aiding the war on filth, and it does an exceptional job of dissolving germs leading to colds and illnesses.
– Start by filling a spray bottle with 1 part vinegar and 2 parts water. If vinegar smells offend you, add 1 part lemon juice to neutralize the aroma. With your newly created formula, spray and wipe down all the surface areas in the kitchen and bathroom, including door handles and light switches.
– Do not neglect your laundry room. Laundry rooms often get overlooked when attempting to sanitize your home. Be sure to disinfect your laundry baskets with your vinegar solution. Wash your towels, linens and bedding on the hot temperature setting of your washer to kill any lingering germs. Don’t forget to wipe down the washer and dryer surfaces with the vinegar concoction.
Sanitize Upholstery With the Sun: One of the benefits of summer colds and illnesses is the ability of using the sun’s warm rays to contribute to the sanitizing process. The sun can play a role in eliminating the spreading of germs. Simply place your comforters, rugs, pillows, even smaller mattresses outside, and anything else you can manage in the direct sunlight as it is a great way to burn away the germs.
Sanitizing With Tea Tree Oil: Tea tree oil fans can use the awesome power of the antibacterial and antifungal elements to fight illness spreading germs. Tea tree oil can clean and freshen without any chemical additives.
– Disinfect with your vacuum. Apply a few drops of tea tree oil to a few cotton balls, and place it the vacuum cleaner bag or dirt collector container.
– In your empty spray bottle, combine 2 tsp of tea tree oil with 2 cups of water (optional: add a few drops of mild liquid dish soap). This formula is perfect for a fresh smelling cleaner to spray and wipe all surface areas in kitchens and bathrooms. Be sure to use it on floors, light switches, door knobs, and other commonly handled areas. Don’t forget frequently touched and handled surfaces, for example; computer keyboards, toys, doorknobs, railings, toilet handle, drawer and cabinet handles, faucets, and other things sickly hands can get a hold of.
Sanitize With Hydrogen Peroxide: Your toothbrush should soak it in hydrogen peroxide to kill any lingering germs.
