After the hustle and bustle of holiday season, it comes time to put away the Christmas decorations and get your home organized accordingly. Getting your Christmas themed possessions stored properly can help alleviate a lot of stress and headaches when the season approaches again. Instead of haphazardly tossing your décor into boxes, consider a more methodical approach!

Tips on Storing Christmas Holiday Decorations

Nadia’s House Cleaning would like to offer you some tips and advice on storing your Christmas decorations in a more orderly fashion.
1) Christmas light storage. When you strip off the lights from the tree and around the interior and exterior of your home; it is optimal to avoid the tangled chaos next year. Detangling the lights tops the list when it comes to chores you would rather not deal with. There is some tangle-free storage options you can chose from; tangle resistant light storage cases are convenient, or you can utilize heavy duty coat hangers to help keep the tangled lights a distant memory. If you use hangers, a nice tip is place a sheet of cardboard in between the layers to further organize your lights, and minimize the entanglement.
2) Christmas ornament storage. Storing your ornaments can be accomplished in several ways. Boxes and chests in conjunction with bubble wrap is a good way to store the more fragile ornaments. Print out the contents of the ornaments onto an index card, and tape them to the exterior storage case for easy identifying for years to come.
3) Artificial Christmas tree storage. If you invested in an artificial tree they can easily last you years of pleasure if properly cared for and stored. Artificial trees are heavy, especially if you are single-handily responsible for getting up and storing it after the season. When preparing it for storage, be sure you allowed adequate space. Storage closets or a safe corner in the garage is ideal, just be sure it is in a place where it can’t be abused or crushed during the off season. A promising suggestion would be to store your tree in a convenient rolling case designed specifically for artificial trees. It not only makes transportation simple, but it also offers more durable protection.
4) Christmas villages & collectibles storage. Your villages and collectible Christmas decorations are better off stored in the original boxes, complete with Styrofoam casing. Stack the heaviest on the bottom of the bin and up. If you did not save the original packaging, be sure to bubble wrap the fragile pieces and compact them in your storage bin tightly, with blankets or towels wedged between them to avoid damage when handling.
5) Fabric décor storage. Vacuum storage bags are a great way to store holiday linens such as; tree skirts, table clothes, chair covers and other such holiday décor that are constructed out of fabric. Be sure to wash them and ensure they are thoroughly dried before storing. Whether you use this method or organize them in a bin, place a fabric softener sheet inside to help preserve the freshness.
6) Gift wrapping storage. More often than not, wrapping does not happen merely once a year, keep the wrapping equipment accessible to wrap gifts all year long for other special occasions. A popular option is a hanging organizer or a roll under the bed storage kit where it stays organized, out of the way, and easily reached.
7) Hardware storage. For your extra hooks, zip ties, ornament repair essentials, and other little related goodies, store them in a handy hardware organizer case. They can be found in any home improvement shop and you can select the size most fitting for your collection.
8) Elevated storage in the garage. If you lack the space to store your holiday decorations, you can invest in elevated storage kits that can store your bins out of the way without sacrificing floor or shelf space in your garage.
