Smelly House Remedy; Best Way to Clean & Deodorize Your Boston, MA Home & Get Rid of Musty Pet & Other Odors

The way our home smells can be a reflection on how clean it is and when people walk into our homes we want it to smell clean. There seem to be some odors that just linger inside our homes and it doesn’t matter what you do they just won’t go away. Sometimes we can’t open our windows to air the place out so we need to have other ways to freshen the place up. There are lots of products on the market that are made to eliminate odors in the home but only seem to work temporarily.

Best Way to Deodorize & Get Rid of Bad Odors in the House

1. Stale refrigerator smell. Having a fridge that smells stale every time you open it will make you lose your appetite. Using a box of baking soda can do wonders in eliminating odors and can work in the freezer too. If this doesn’t work, you can try using activated charcoal.
2. Cigarette smoke. In carpet and upholstery, the smell of smoke can stay around for a long time. Baking soda can be sprinkled over the affected areas and left for a few hours. Make sure you give the baking soda enough time to soak the smell up and follow up with a vacuum cleaner equipped with a HEPA filter.
3. Stinky garbage disposal. Are you getting a whiff of last night’s dinner coming out of your garbage disposal? Try pouring white vinegar into the disposal while it’s running or freeze the vinegar in ice cube trays so the disposal can chop them up. You can also try using oxygen bleach.
4. Musty dishwasher smell. No one wants a stinky smell coming out of the appliance that is meant to clean their dishes. Try running the dishwasher through a cycle while is empty and use two cups of white vinegar instead of soap to remove odors.
5. Smelly coffee pot. Having a smelly cup of coffee isn’t the first drink you want to have in the morning. It’s a good idea to run a full pot of coffee with one part white vinegar and two parts water for an effective way to remove odors. Just make sure you run a pot of water through it before your next pot of coffee so you don’t taste the vinegar!
6. Funky smelling drawers. A great way to remove odors from the drawers in your home is to sprinkle baking soda in them. Allow it to sit for a few hours or days if you can and use the HEPA vacuum to vacuum it up.
7. Pungent pet odors in the home. Pets are like members of the family and we love having them around. The only problem is they can be smelly. Make sure you’re dusting and airing out your house and vacuum with the trusty HEPA filter vacuum and use pet-odor-specific cleaning products to remove odors. You can also use HEPA certified air purifiers that have strong, odor-removing capabilities.
