There are many aspects to cleaning your home. From ensuring the floors are free of debris to keeping the light fixtures free of debris, keeping a clean house has many chores. One of the chores that should be done every few months is cleaning the fridge. To help keep the food storage healthy and to help stay organized, you need to clean the refrigerator. To help you get started, we at Nadia’s House Cleaning would like to offer a basic guideline on how to clean the fridge.
Clear Out Expired Food
You need to throw away any expired or suspicious food as you go through existing food. Before beginning in case you need to wash out any containers or use the garbage disposal to rid of food, make sure your kitchen sink is empty. If its been awhile, you may want to have an empty trash can with a liner next to you.
Empty Out Fridge
We recommend clearing off optimal counter space to allow you enough room for produce, vegetables, condiments, and anything else that you will be taking out of the refrigerator as you remove everything from the refrigerator ahead of time. Wipe off before placing back in refrigerator if you have any bottles or jars that have accumulated stickiness or built-up residue.
Clean Fridge Parts
Wash them in the sink with hot water and soap after you remove any shelves, drawers, and racks. The CDC recommends that you do not run cold glass shelves or drawers under hot water, or the glass could crack. Run it under room temperature first and then increase the temperature. Wipe down with a microfiber cloth after cleaning.
Cleaning the Inside of the Fridge Shell
With a solution of two tablespoons of baking soda mixed with hot water, wipe down the inside of your refrigerator. Scrub with a sponge or toothbrush if there are any hard-to-remove surfaces. Dry off with a clean cloth or paper towels.
Clean Exterior of Fridge
You can use the same baking soda mixture you used for the inside of the fridge or use with warm soap and water mixture. Use stainless steel wipes to wipe down if you have a stainless-steel fridge.
Important Tip – Inspect the condenser coils for any dust, dirt, or debris. If there is any, use a vacuum’s hose to gently remove the debris.
Return all drawers and shelves back into the fridge and put all food and condiments back in the refrigerator. Make sure to organize the fridge according to your individual needs. You want to be able to find what you are looking for as well as manage outdated foods and wipe messes easily.
