When it comes to window cleaning, we know it is one of the most neglected chores during house cleaning; especially outside window cleaning. With all of our fancy commercial products, window cleaning is still one of the most annoying chores of the home. Nadias House Cleaning sympathizes with you. However with the right tools, cleaners, and techniques, you will find you can clean your windows with more ease and your windows will look cleaner than ever before. Here are a few cleaning tips for the inside as well as the outside of your windows.

How to Clean Inside Windows Without Streaks

For the interior window cleaning, the first step is to use a bucket or something that will hold water. Fill the bucket with cold water and add a few drops of liquid dish soap. Use a clean or fresh sponge to wash your windows from top to bottom with the soapy water. Make sure to clean the frames while you’re at it. After you have washed the windows, wipe them down with a dry cloth. You will then need to use a cleaner. You have three options that work well. Of course Windex has always worked well for cleaning glass. However, you can use vinegar diluted with water, or ammonia diluted with water. All three work well when it comes to cleaning your windows. Keep in mind when mixing your own cleaners, it is best to use distilled water verses tap water. Tap water has minerals inside them that leave streaks and deposits on the glass. Wipe the cleaning solution of choice away with either a paper towel or a micro fiber cloth. You may need to reapply the cleaner and wipe it away again if windows have been neglected or if they are really dirty. Additionally, make sure to take the time and do one window at a time.

How to Clean Outside Windows

Here we go with one of these most neglected chores; cleaning the windows on the outside. This hardly ever gets done, especially in the cold seasons. Therefore, the windows outside are pretty dirty and will take a little bit more effort to clean. Start by rinsing the window off with the hose to remove as much of the dirt of as you can. Once again, use a sponge and with cool water combined with a few drops of liquid dish soap, wash the window and windowsill to prevent any dirt smearing onto the glass later. For higher windows, use an extension pole with a microfiber mop to help reach the taller areas. Afterward, you can use the hose to rinse the window off again. Pay close attention to rinsing out the corners and edges of the windowsills. You don’t want to get dirt running down the glass. Once again pick you cleaner of choice; Windex, Vinegar or an Ammonia water base cleaner. And use a rubber bladed squeegee to remove the cleaner. Go from the top to the bottom and then work your way to the other side of the glass. For the few lines that might be left behind going down or at the bottom of the window, use a clean micro fiber cloth to wipe them away.
